MONROE TOWNSHIP ADULT COMMUNITIES
Monroe Township was the first town in Central New Jersey to permit the construction of large Gated Adult Communities. The original ordinance called for communities to be built on a minimum of 450 acres.
The first four of the communities built under that ordinance were Rossmoor, Clearbrook, Concordia and Greenbriar at Whittingham. In 1999, Monroe Township changed the ordinance to allow adult communities to be built on smaller parcels. The Six communities constructed under this newer ordinance are The Ponds, Regency at Monroe, Encore at Monroe, Renaissance at Monroe, Renaissance at Cranbury Crossing and Stonebridge A Lennar Greenbriar Community.
